“My son was paralized 7 days ago in a dirt bike accident. I was looking for something to lift his spirits. He loves to ride and I told him he can again on a trike or side car type bike. I live in Arizona and I found the perfect cartoon for him. Thank you, I can't wait to see him on that bike.”

— Gary Bonoyer

“Great cartoons. One reason I am contacting you, I think I know one of the people that made a comment. Steve Gentis, if he used to live in John Day, I would like to get in touch with him again. Haven't seen him since 1963. He was right, I made a huge mistake.”

— Rosalyn “Rose”

“Hi! I am in a wheelchair, and recently found your site when looking up how to draw one. I love it!! I
I have some drawing skill, and hope to someday make a comic about disabled people. ”

— Michael Politzer , http://sites.google.com/site/mpolitzer/

“Such a TALENTED young fellow you are dear! Any chance you will get an account on Twitter so we can view your comics daily, and other non disabled can enjoy them as well? Keep up the postive and fun attitude we need more fun people like you in the world to serve as role models for the rest of us dear!
Huge Hugs!!”

— Cathy Wilson , Life Stream Foundation

“Great cartoons, very inspirational to our Inclusive Sports group members. Thank you for permitting us to use them in our group's newletter, our members love the cartoons...and I think we must have a few of Leeder's relatives among our members.
Keep on drawing, your art really does make a difference where it matter's the most. Laughter and fun always breaks down the barriers that some put between our differences.”

— Renay “Shadochasa” , Jandowae Adaptive Games Society Incorporated

Aaron and I were doing a skate demo together out in Seatle a couple weeks ago, and he said that you had a picture of me on this site and that I should contact you about doing a bio...

Cheers, Christiaan”

— Christiaan “Otter” Bailey , Life Rolls On

“I was disheartened by a few leeder o phobes criticizing you for not being disabled yourself and therefore not understanding disabled people, life on a wheelchair and such.

I would like to remind them about the human quality of empathy. You don't need to be disabled to understand disabled individuals and their problems. Do we need to be dead to understand death? I think not.

Kudos to all positive and cheerful disabled individuals.”

— Not Disabled

“Just added a link to your site on my own ( www.ekansh.org). Fantastic and hard hitting. What a lovely package of humour and facts! Thank you, you made me smile today!”

“I am an occupational therapy student and my assignment task is to analyze a site produced by people with a disability. I have to look at the way's in which each site component (e.g. newsletter, podcasts etc) challenges common stereotypes about people with a disability. Something that came up is humor similar to that of this website and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me? Love the site by the way!

— Jackie

“I don't need this sort of competition! ;-)”

— Crippen

“I love these strips, I make sure to check it everyday...I'm in a wheelchair due to a rare form of asthma, M.E and FMS and used to just use it out of the house but recently have had to go into it full time and the strips always make me laugh and show me that no matter how sucky it may seem, there's always a better way of looking at it, so thanks for dizABLED.”

— Joey “JoeyBug”

“I found this site several years ago as part of an online comics research project. Glad to see you are still going strong. Just met a dynamic lady in a wheelchair and told her about it. Hope she likes it (& me). Keep up the great work!”

“I love it man, was just surfin the net and found your site. I am gonna share this with some others I know. I am laugin my wheels off dawg, especially since some of the strips I have looked at are things I have either done or (in the parking instance) wanted to do.”

— Lin

“My name is Macey and I was shot back in 1996. I have a L3L4 hole in my spine. I am in my wheelchair and have NEVER let it stop me. Much due to my mother not babying me when she could have and thought she was killing me by being tough. I am now a Harley Davidson rider with the help of my husband. I ride all over the country. I have a three wheeler of my own. I love to ride and nothing slows us down. I go to events and we have a special trailer that we pull behind our bike that we put my chair into and you should see the looks we get. I have had people all over the country tell me how I give them hope that they can do that too. No I am not ramping off things and doing flips which by the way is cool as hell but I am trying in my own way to do it all on my own. I don't take help and and do take credit for the keeping going even when I feel like shit. So this 41 year old women can do it so can any other people. Just get up and ride baby!”

— macey “macey” cornell , none

“I am a disabled student who has been in a wheelchair for as long as I can remember. I feel that positive cartoons like these are good for people to view. Good work! It's great to a character that is positive, uplifting and funny. Keep doing what you're doing. Well done.”

— Chelsea

“Wow! This is so great.....
I am a teacher of preschool children with disabilities and we have a group of 5th grade PALS come to our class once a week to "Buddy Up" with my kids. I am planning on having my 5th grade PALS visit your site to gather information for their Science Fair booth on awareness of kids with varying abilities. I am so excited to find you...can't wait to show the big kids your stuff!
Thanks, Thanks!!!”

— Sarah Ford , San Antonio ISD

“Thanks for the great and fun comix. I'll be following your site. Also LOVED the DVD of Scott, Chris and Courtney. What brave, fun, courageous and crazy folks they are...but them I'm Scott's mom so potentially I might be biased. I'm really proud of Scott and his friends.
Keep up the good work.”

— Joan Boysen

“I love the website. I have been in a wheelchair for 49 years and humor has really helped me. Other people think I'm a nut sometimes when I call myself things like roller boy, handi-man, wheelie boy, etc. My boss nearly choked on her coffee one morning when she saw hanging outside my cubicle, a photograph of a man in a wheelchair covered in bees with an article written in tabloid style making fun of the event. Her only comment was, "You're warped". It is nice to know I'm not the only one who finds humor in my situation.”

— Al “HandiManAl”

“John,
Just did some google searching on Darwin Holmes and came across the new adventures of Leeder O. Men. Pretty hot, still, twenty years later. Loved the letter that Leeder wrote to the Colours forum, too. I hope all is well with you.”

— Mark Waters

“Hi, its soooooo great to finally see a site where being in a wheelchair is shown humorous. Im in wheelchair and so many people always watch what they say around me... its so awesome to see humour being used...its the only way to go!!!!!!”

— Samantha “Samantha Farr” Farr

“A recent leg amputee just checking out the site. Pretty good.”

— Pam “dollylegs”

“I can't believe people have issues with this cartoon! I found it funny and refreshing, and all the more interesting because it was written by an AB. I mean, we need MORE allies in this world, not fewer. Thank you so much for really understanding the frustration and helping us make light of it. My fridge will be liberally decorated with this strip by the end of the evening!

And to all that find it offencive because the artist isn't in a chair: how many senators and congressmen/MPs have you seen in chairs? How many Supreme Court judges? There are only a few million of us, and 6 billion of them. We need more people like this artist in the world if we want better laws and accessibility. If you want the ambulatory world to accept us and understand, maybe you shouldn't alienate those that do. Just a thought.

Enough with the soapbox, I found it freakin funny. Thanks for the GREAT work! I <3 Leeder! ”

— AJ “Sex on Wheels” Bray , www.ajbray.com

“Your site is great! I've used a wheelie for 6 years now through having ME/CFS. Last week i went to a gig, wheeled myself to the front, asked some ABs if I could stand between them to use the security barrier to support my weight. Then I danced my arse off. Their faces! I haven't been out of bed since, but hell, it was worth it. Thanks for showing the reality, insanity and fun of life for us dizabled (tis the same in UK). The strips have cheered me up while bed bound. Keep it up : )”

— Janie “bedblogger” P
