04.22.2008 Pala Grand Opening

Aaron Fotheringham

Maybe the best cement park in Southern California opened yesterday in the city of Pala. Just in walking distance from the casino, the new park has something for everyone. Stu Graham, James Brockman, Shuriken Shannon, Marius Syvanen, Tom Remilard, and Cuong Lieng, and Aaron Fotheringham all headed to the park for the grand opening festivities. With bands playing in the outfield of the baseball field right next to the park, everyone had live music to listen to as the bowls and street course were annihilated. Check out the photos!

“First off I want to say I have been a fan your your cartoons for YEARS. I am as you call "able-bodied" and I am a physical education teacher with a masters in Movement Studies in Disability (basically adapted PE)... I also have a physical education website that has quite a bit of information about disabilities/disability sports. The address is http://mikespe.com. The site used to be on Geocities but it eventually grew into its own domain. Keep up the GREAT work!”

“I love the website. I have been in a wheelchair for 49 years and humor has really helped me. Other people think I'm a nut sometimes when I call myself things like roller boy, handi-man, wheelie boy, etc. My boss nearly choked on her coffee one morning when she saw hanging outside my cubicle, a photograph of a man in a wheelchair covered in bees with an article written in tabloid style making fun of the event. Her only comment was, "You're warped". It is nice to know I'm not the only one who finds humor in my situation.”
